Originally from Co. Cork, Ireland, Claire-Anne O’Brien graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2006 with a degree in Textiles. She then completed an MA in Constructed Textiles at The Royal College of Art in 2010.

Specialising in constructed textiles she creates sculptural, 3 dimensional knitted fabrics for interiors.

Claire Anne is best known for her structural approach to knit and her passion for texture and surface pattern. This collaboration allowed both designer and maker to explore new ways of working. In order to animate and bring her design aesthetic to a two-dimensional surface. This was achieved through the use of varying pile heights to create a relief pattern on the surface of the rugs.
